How to get yourself back in flow
I have been lucky enough to love every single job I’ve ever done – maybe not every single day – but every job. All my working life, whenever I have ever met anyone who doesn’t love their work, I have felt the pain of it deeply.
If this is you – if you’re in a job, career or business that is destroying your soul day by day, week by week, what are your options? How can you get to a place of loving your work?
Essentially, you need to be doing work for which you are suited. And you need to avoid the work for which you are not suited. The lucky thing is that the tasks that suck you dry will fill someone else up. Those spreadsheets that make your shoulders sag? For the right person, the same spreadsheets make them light up at the prospect of getting everything in order, balanced and showing your business financials clearly.
The strategic thinking you love so much that you could bore your non-entrepreneur friends with for hours? For someone else, the idea of coming up with a navigation plan for their business can be brain scrambling.
Do you see how that works? Once you’re doing the right tasks for you and others are doing the wrong tasks for you (and right for them), everyone wins.
The place in which everyone is doing the right tasks is called flow. It’s where everyone is delighted to go to work because it’s where they get to do the things they love most of the time. When you’re building a team of people for your business, you hire with flow in mind. When you’re managing a team of people, your job is to ask every single day ‘How can I help you be more in flow? What blocks do I need to remove for you? What resources do you need? How can I help you do more of what you’re good at and what you love?’
At the same time, you’re also questioning how much time you spend in flow, making sure that you have the support and resources to do what you love. After all, surely that’s at least part of the reason you started a business in the first place?
If you run a business and would like help with the practicalities of setting up or returning to a working life that you love, get in touch. My place of flow is helping people like you be clear on what lights you up and finding a complementary team to do all the other things, so everyone is playing to their strengths and spending more of their working day in flow.
That is what I want for you. I believe that every single person deserves to love what they do and I’m on a mission to help as many people as I can do just that.
